A Trenchless Method of Sewer or Drain Pipe Replacement
"Pipe bursting" is a trenchless method of replacing buried pipe lines without the need for traditional pipe replacement, which involves massive excavation, time to obtain city permits, and days without the use of your sewer or drain lines.
Pipe bursting may also be used to expand pipeline capacity by replacing smaller pipes with larger ones to improve flow.
How Pipe Bursting Works
Once we assess your sewer line and determine that pipe bursting is the best approach, we create two access points, one at each end. This eliminates the need to trench through roads and other structures on your property. Then we fuse together the new pipe into one long line, and pull it through the old one, which breaks the old pipe apart, leaving you with a completely new pipe.
The entire process is FAST and relatively quiet. It only takes about 30 minutes to pull 80' of pipe! Watch the video demonstration below to see how pipe bursting works in more detail. Then view the photos of a recent job we did in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
